Natural Resources – Precious Metals
Fund Portrait
The Precious Metals Champions Fund aims to generate long-term capital growth by primarily investing in equities from companies offering exposure to the precious metals market. The Fund is actively managed and has a balanced portfolio of 25 companies based on a standardized process.
ICG uses a quantitative multi-factor model that identifies sector champions. Focus is on cash flows, asset quality, valuation, balance sheet, dividends, behavioral finance and sustainability. Precious Metal companies are entering a phase of improving margins and the valuation is very low on a relative basis compared to the global equity markets. The precious metals industry is currently more profitable than at any point in recent history. Therefore, the market starts to look to these companies as good business, rather than just leveraged ways to invest in gold. The Precious Metals Champions Fund consists of a unique combination of investments in the best precious metals companies but has a minimum gold investment strategy to protect the equity downside (dynamic active gold allocation strategy).
